Zephyrs Snap Losing Streak, Finish Roadtrip with a 7-3 Win

Oklahoma City - Justin Nicolino pitched six solid innings and the Zephyrs offense scored seven runs on a dozen hits in a 7-3 road win at Oklahoma City. The win snapped a six game losing skid.

The Dodgers got a first inning run with an Andy Wilkins sacrifice fly to score Jose Peraza. The Zephyrs sent seven batters to the plate in the fourth inning and scored three runs off of starter Mike Bolsinger. Seven of the Zephyr starters picked up hits in the game led by Marcell Ozuna's three hits.

Nicolino worked six innings, allowed two runs on eight hits and earned his seventh win of the season.

Brady Shoemaker drilled a two out two run single in the seventh inning to give the Z's a 5-2 lead. New Orleans added a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning with an RBI single for Ozuna and a pinch-hit RBI hit for Brandon Bantz.

JT Riddle made his Triple-A debut and went two for three with two runs scored and two walks.

The Zephyrs scored runs off of former Zephyrs Chris Hatcher and Grant Dayton. Bolsinger took the loss in first outing since being sent down by Dodgers.

The Zephyrs improve to 50-61 on the season and return home Wednesday.

GAME NOTES

The Zephyrs dropped the series 1-4, the team that scored first in all five games lost the game.

The Zephyrs added infielder JT Riddle from Class AA Jacksonville and released Jordany Valdespin.

Vinny Rottino extended his hitting streak to eight games and has reached base in 17 of the last 18 contests.

The Zephyrs scheduled has them playing 18 consecutive games against first place teams. In the stretch the Z's are 1-4.

The Zephyrs open a five game series on Wednesday at 6:00 at Zephyr Field. The Z's will turn to RHP Rob Morey (2-2, 2.93) vs. RHP Stolmy Pimentel (3-3, 5.81) . The game will be broadcast on WMTI 106.1 FM and streamed at www.1061neworleans.com and on The Ticket App.
