Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL have announced a trade that brings JEFF ZEHR (F) back to Greenville in a three-team deal that includes JOSH LEGGE (D) moving to Toledo after 8 games with the Grrrowl. The deal between Greenville and Toledo also included future player considerations, as well as financial considerations.

The three-team deal breaks down as follows: Peoria sends forward Jeff Zehr and Mike Nelson to Toledo, for forward Adam Edinger and defenseman Trevor Read; Greenville sends defenseman Josh Legge, a future player, and financial considerations to Toledo

JEFF ZEHR (6-3, 195lbs., forward) was in Peoria for the first 9 games of the 2003-04 season, and registered 2 goals and 57 penalty minutes. The Grrrowl faced Zehr last season when he was in Columbus (58 pts. and 229 PIM's in 58 games) with the Cottonmouths. Jeff, a Windsor, ONT native, last played with Greenville in the 2000-01 season, totaling 3 points and 76 PIM's in 23 games. The New York Islanders selected the 24-year-old ZEHR as the 31st overall pick in the 1997 NHL draft. Along the way, he played 12 games with the AHL Providence Bruins, and 4 games with the NHL Boston Bruins in the 1999-00 season. This will be his fifth professional season, playing in 161 games.

Josh Legge (6-2, 183lbs., defense) played in the first 8 games of the 2003-04 season with the Grrrowl, totaling 1 assist and 9 PIM's. Legge played his entire rookie season with the Grrrowl in 2002-03, with 8 points and 91 PIM's in 59 games.

"We are excited about the return of Jeff Zehr to Greenville," stated John Marks, Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations for the Grrrowl. "He really wore us out last season with Columbus, and he brings a lot of things to the table that we need at the point of the season. He can score, he is a physical presence, he has the ability to make others players better, and the fans will enjoy watching him play. We hate to lose a great kid like Josh Legge, but we feel that we have made a strategic change with our team that will make us better."

Both Zehr (zay-er) and Randy Dagenais (day-zha-ney) – who was added after Wednesday's trade with Gwinnett, will be on the ice on Friday night for the Grrrowl as they host the Greensboro Generals, a 7:05pm start. Dagenais will wear #2, and Zehr will be wearing #54.
