
Zapolski Earns Second-Straight Shutout in Win over Wheeling

North Charleston, S.C. - Goaltender Ryan Zapolski records his second consecutive shutout stopping all 23 shots to propel the South Carolina Stingrays (15-16-1-3) to a 3-0 win over the Wheeling Nailers (13-11-2-4) at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday night.
Stingrays rookie Justin Courtnall broke a scoreless tie at 14:34 of the second period lifting a wrist shot over the glove of Nailers goaltender Peter Delmas (L, 20 saves on 23 shots) from the top of the right-wing circle. Forward Tyler McNeely extended his point streak to seven games picking up the lone assist.
Forward Ryan Hayes made it 2-0 with his fifth goal of the season at 11:07 of the final period from forwards Andrew Cherniwchan and Chris Langkow. Forward Matthew Pistilli sealed the victory on the power play at 15:48 with help from Hayes. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-5 on the man advantage while the Nailers went 0-for-2.
The Stingrays are on the road Friday, January 4 and Saturday, January 5 against the Gwinnett Gladiators and Greenville Road Warriors at 7:35 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. before returning home on Sunday, January 6 to face the Florida Everblades at 3:05 p.m. on Kid's Day at the North Charleston Coliseum.
