The Jackals are facing the Komets tonight for the first of three meetings this season and lone contest in Fort Wayne. The Komets return the favor when they visit Elmira for a pair of games on March 22 and 23. The Jackals are 3-1-0 against the North Division after last night's 6-3 win over Evansville while Ft. Wayne is 0-2-1 against the Atlantic (0-1-0 at home). The Jackals and Komets renew their old United Hockey League rivalry tonight. The teams squared off each season from 2000 to 2007 before the Jackals made the jump to the ECHL. The Komets have former Jackals Josh Brittain and Thomas Beauregard in their ranks.
Maxime Clermont is becoming a road warrior in net for the Jackals. With a 40-save performance in last night's win over Evansville Clermont now has wins in three of his last four starts (all on the road). Of his 12 appearances, nine have been away from First Arena. The second-year pro holds an overall road record of 3-4-2. Last night's victory also gave Clermont wins in back-to-back starts for the first time this season. Clermont and fellow netminder Marc Cheverie have been sharing an equal workload lately with each receiving five starts in the Jackals' last 10 games. Cheverie is 1-3-1 over that stretch.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Friday, January 4, 2013 to take on the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m. Join the Jackals for Dave Clark Foundation night and help us celebrate his achievements!
