
York signs with Gladiators

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed defenseman Matt York for the 2005-06 season.
York will begin his first full professional season this year with the Gladiators. The Woodhaven, Michigan native appeared in 6 games last season with the Reading Royals after finishing his final collegiate season with Ferris State.
"He's a great character guy," said Gladiators head coach Jeff Pyle. "Matt is a perfect fit for our systems and will be a great addition to the organization."
In four collegiate seasons at Ferris State, York appeared in 132 games posting 16 goals and 52 assists for 68 points. York was a three year letterwinner with the Bulldogs and was team captain during his senior season.
The 6-foot-0, 190 pound defenseman was an ALL-CCHA Rookie team honoree and named Ferris State Rookie of the year following the 2001-02 season. York became Ferris State's all-time leader in penalty minutes when he surpassed the 346 minute mark during the 2004-05 season and finished his collegiate career with 432 PIM's
