
Condors Care-a-Van; Day of Caring

Bakersfield Condors News Release
Thursday, September 8th The Condors and Goodwill Industries head to Lake Isabella for the first Care-a-Van of the 2005-2006 season. The Condors, Colonel Claw'd, and staff will join the Kern Valley Exchange Club for lunch at Paradise Cove from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. Paradise Cove is located at 10700 Hwy 178. From there, the group will travel to French Gulch Marina, located at Hwy 155 Pioneer Point. Condors staff and Colonel Claw'd will be at the marina from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm to run the Goodwill donation drop and the Condors inflatable Slapshot game. The Condors will complete the afternoon with a visit to the Lake Isabella branch of the Kern County Library. From 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, Colonel Claw'd will pose for pictures and sign autographs while the Condors staff will be available to help children read. The library is located at 7054 Lake Isabella Blvd.
Saturday, September 10th Bakersfield Sports Entertainment will participate in the United Way of Kern County's Day of Caring. The Day of Caring is an opportunity for United Way to pair volunteers from local companies and service organizations with health and human service agencies to complete critical projects. Last year, volunteers spent more than 4,800 hours completing 100 projects and saved local nonprofit agencies more than $84,000 in labor costs. The day begins at 7am with a kick-off breakfast at Stramler Park, 3805 Chester Avenue. Following breakfast, Condors staff will assist Catholic Charities, located at 525 18th St., with a food and clothing drive for the homeless.
Saturday, September 10th Following a long day of service, the Condors will be attending Brews in the Village â05. Brews in the Village is an annual fundraiser for Childrens' Advocates Resource Endowment (CARE). CARE is a local non-profit organization that places 60% of all money raised into an Endowment Fund for the future of Kern County children. The remaining 40% is awarded twice a year to local children's charities. Brews in the Village will be held from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm in Pioneer Village at the Kern County Museum located at 3801 Chester Avenue.
Sunday, September 11th Colonel Claw'd will attend the annual picnic for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The picnic will take place from 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Stramler Park, 3805 Chester Avenue. Colonel Claw'd will entertain attendees from 4:00 pm -5:00 pm. For more information, contact Angel Hernandez at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 323-7642.
