Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with forwards Mike Lee and John-Scott Dickson for the 2005-06 season.

The hulking, six-foot, 230-pound Lee broke his foot last season but still managed six goals and 136 PIM in his second year in an Aces jersey. He also earned his first promotion to the American Hockey League, racking up 29 minutes in penalties in seven games for the Utah Grizzlies. Upon returning to Alaska at the end of the AHL regular season, he scored the eventual game-winning goal in the fifth and deciding game against Bakersfield in the opening round of the 2005 Kelly Cup playoffs and added a goal in Game Three of Alaska's eventual conference finals loss to Trenton.

The 25-year-old Lee grew up in Anchorage and attended East High School, leading the Thunderbirds to two straight Alaska state finals, winning the championship in 1997. He was a member of the U.S. junior national team the following year before spending three years in the Western Hockey League prior to turning pro in 2001.

Dickson arrives in Anchorage fresh out of Windsor in the Ontario Hockey League, where his size (6-3, 214 pounds) was complemented by a scoring touch, highlighted by 34 goals and 76 points last year for the Spitfires, figures that placed among the OHL's top 15 in both categories. The 21-year-old Dickson, a product of Scarborough, Ontario, spent five years with Windsor, increasing his production every season and finishing with 214 points on 94 goals and 120 assists in 306 games.

Alaska and San Diego meet in the 2005-06 regular season opener Friday, October 21, at 7:15 p.m., the first game of a three-game series that continues Saturday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. and Monday night, October 24. Dayton will visit Anchorage for two pre-season games October 12 at 7:15 p.m. and October 13 at 7:00 p.m., a time that has been moved up 15 minutes in order to accommodate the Bombers itinerary. The Aces are proud affiliates of the St. Louis Blues (NHL) and the Peoria Rivermen (AHL). For 2005-06 season ticket information, please call 258-ACES.
