
York Defeats Somerset 15-8

York, PA - The York Revolution (11-9) defeated the Somerset Patriots (13-6) 15-8 Wednesday night from Sovereign Bank Stadium. The game was delayed 30 minutes due to rain. The Revolution have now won two of the first three games in this four game midweek series between these Freedom Division foes.
York scratched across a run early as third baseman Andy Gonzalez poked a RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the first inning to give the Revolution an early 1-0 lead.
Catcher Jake Fox slugged his Atlantic League leading eighth homer of the year as his two run shot to left-center field gave Somerset a 2-1 lead in the third inning.
In the ensuing half inning the Revolution would retake the lead for good as first baseman Brian Burgamy blasted an opposite field two run home run (3) over the 38 foot high left field wall making the score 3-2 in favor of York.
York added to their lead in the home half of the fifth inning as Gonzalez recorded a RBI via a sacrifice fly and another run came across on pitcher Mitch Atkins' throwing error expanding the lead to 5-2.
Somerset plated a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning as second baseman James Skelton tallied a RBI single and Bobby Stevens allowed a run to score by hitting into a RBI fielder's choice that cut the deficit to 5-4.
The Revolution broke open the game in the bottom of the seventh game as they sent 12 men to the plate while tallying seven hits and scoring nine runs to take a commanding 14-4 lead. Right fielder Jeff Fiorentino hit a two RBI double. Catcher Salvador Paniagua socked a two RBI double. Shortstop Bobby Stevens would commit a throwing error that led to a run. Burgamy lined a RBI single and designated hitter Andy Marte hammered a three run home run (3) in that half inning that lasted over 30 minutes.
York tacked on another run in the bottom of the eight as left fielder Ruddy Yan recorded a RBI via a sacrifice fly to increase the lead to 15-4.
The Patriots scored four runs in the ninth inning as third baseman Corey Smith would hit a RBI double. Designated hitter Mike Wilson extended his hitting streak to seven games with a two RBI double and first baseman Adam Donachie would get an RBI via a groundout to make the score 15-8 which would be the final score.
Nick Green (2-0) earned the win tossing 5.1 innings. Mitch Atkins (3-1) suffered his first loss of the year.
