Blue Crabs Upset Skeeters With 11th Inning Walk-Off

After an hour rain delay the Sugar Land Skeeters tied the score 6-6 in the top of the ninth to erase the Blue Crabs 6-3 lead and take the game into extra innings. After a scoreless tenth and top of the 11th, the Blue Crabs managed to load the bases after singles from Alvin Colina, Jose Julio-Ruiz and Wladimir Sutil. Renny Osuna then hit the sacrifice fly to score the walk-off run for Southern Maryland and the 7-6 final.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs used a late inning rally to jump ahead of the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-3 Tuesday at Regency Furniture Stadium. Blue Crabs relief pitcher Eddie Morlan changed the momentum in Southern Maryland's favor after striking out three consecutive batters in the top of the eighth. Then in the bottom of the inning, with Cyle Hankerd's hitting streak on the line, the outfielder capitalized on a bases loaded situation as he drove in three runs. Newly activated catcher Alvin Colina also singled, driving in another run for to increase the lead to six. With the loss, Sugar Land snaps an Atlantic League high nine-game winning streak.

UP NEXT: The Blue Crabs will remain home Wednesday amidst a four-game home stand that runs through Thursday, May 9.
