New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)-Yohan Pino blanked Akron over seven innings and Anthony Gose homered and drove in two runs as the Fisher Cats extended a win streak to four games with a 5-3 win over the Aeros on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Pino (3-6), who was with Akron for two games at the beginning of the season, allowed just two hits, while walking one and striking out seven.
The Fisher Cats opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Gose homered off the video board in right centerfield to put New Hampshire up 1-0.
New Hampshire (67-52) went up 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning with three consecutive two-out hits. Mike McDade doubled down the left field line. With that two-base hit, McDade now has set a new franchise record with 36 doubles in a season. McDade moved to third on a single by Moises Sierra and scored on a single by Kevin Howard.
The Fisher Cats extended the lead to 3-0 in the fifth. Jonathan Diaz walked, Mastroianni singled and Gose (2-for-3) plated Diaz with a single.
In the sixth, with the bases loaded, Diaz singled in two runs to put New Hampshire up 5-0 against Akron losing pitcher Austin Adams (9-9).
Akron (62-58) mounted a rally, loading the bases against reliever Rey Gonzalez on two hits and an error. Ben Copeland singled to make it 5-1 and Juan Diaz grounded (1-for-1, 2 BB, 2 RBI)
into a fielders choice, scoring Donnie Webb with the second run. Another fielders choice allowed a third run to score before Evan Crawford retired Chun Chen on a grounder to third.
Clint Everts worked around an infield single and a walk in the ninth to earn his fourth save for the Fisher Cats.
The Fisher Cats and Aeros conclude the series on Sunday at 1:35pm. It will be a Northeast Delta Dental Oral Health Challenge Day and Kids Run The Bases courtesy of the Buyers Beware Program. RHP Joel Carreno (7-9, 3.52) will start for New Hampshire against Akron LHP Matt Packer (5-11, 4.61).
