Yetmans' Hat Trick is Game Winner

Elmira, NY- It was Steve Yetmans night tonight at First Arena. Yetman grabbed his third goal of the game with under two minutes to play in the third period to boost the Jackals to a 7-6 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones. From the opening face-off the 3,900 plus fans were in for an electrifying game.

The scoring got started just two minutes 49 seconds in when Steve Yetman tallied his first of the night. The Cyclones fired back with a goal from Michael Cohen at the 8:02 mark of the first to even the score at 1-1. The Cyclones then took their first lead of the game with a goal from Olivier Lattendresse at the 11:06 mark. Elmira Fired back with a Kaleb Betts tally at the 13:38 mark. Four goals and two fights in period one would set the tempo for the remaining 40 minutes.

The teeter totter match continued in the second period. The Jackals took the 3-2 lead on Brandon Scero's first goal as a Jackal, his third of the year. Jimmy Kilpatrick retaliated with a goal at the 7:52 mark to tie the game at 3-3. The Jackals then exploded for two specialty team goals. The first was a beautiful power play goal that was scored by Tyler Donati. A perfect snipe shot that beat Cincinnati goalie Kyle Gajewski low blocker. The Jackals then took a 5-3 lead on a Pierre-Luc Faubert short handed goal. Faubert broke free at center ice and put home a break a way goal. The Cyclones would pull the game within one to end the second. Joe Ryan was assisted by Michael Cohen at the 14:52 mark.

Period number three turned into a grudge match. Steve Yetman scored his 2nd of the night just 2:46 into the final frame. Tyler Donati and Brandon Roach would assist. With a 6-4 lead the Jackals would find themselves back in a tied hockey game at 6-6 thanks to goals from Syrocyzynski and Van Guilder. A back and fourth hard hitting game would ensue in the final five minutes. At the 18:17 mark of the third the Jackals would move into the offensive zone with a pass to Wes Cunningham from Tyler Donati. Cunningham then sent a perfect pass to Steve Yetman who pulled the trigger. The perfect shot sent hats sailing onto the ice, the Jackals hung on for the 7-6 win.
