JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (November 14, 2008) - A four-goal first period set the tone for the Johnstown Chiefs in their 6

-2 win over the Trenton Devils Friday night. The loss was Devils' fifth in a row.

Johnstown got on the board 1:13 into the contest when Ryan Garlock potted home his fifth goal of the season past Jason Smith. Eight seconds later, Brian Deeth converted on a turnover by Dylan Quaile to get his first goal of the season.

The Chiefs scored two late goals in the first to increase their lead to four on tallies by Petr Pohl and Alex Penner.

An injury to Smith forced emergency backup goalie Matt Conti into duty at the start of the second period, and he impressed by making some early saves until Pohl scored his second of the game 4:33 into the middle period.

Rookie defenseman Dave Leaderer put Trenton on the board with his first professional goal at 9:19 of the second with a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Kris Mayotte.

Ryan Gunderson scored on the power play in third period to put the Devils within three, but Greg Gallagher earned a power play tally of his own to create the final score of 6-2.

Tyler Burton had two assists for the Devils, who went 1-for-9 on the power play.
