Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz are proud to welcome back af2 veteran and fan favorite, WR Jarrail Jackson. Jackson (5'11, 190) was the top receiver for the Yard Dawgz last season (1541 yards) and was also the team leader in scoring (234 points), kick returns (19.8 yds/return), and FG returns (21.9 yds/return). He also amassed 3,221 all-purpose yards which ranked him first in the af2.

Jackson was with the AFL's Austin Wranglers and Columbus Destroyers and the af2's Tulsa Talons before joining the Yard Dawgz in 2005. Overall, Jackson has collected 5,613 receiving yards, 4333 kick return yards, and 816 points in his 5 year arenafootball2 career. This year, Jackson has been with the Manchester Wolves where he played in 10 games, amassed 1199 all-purpose yards, and led the team in field goal and kick returns.

"I'm extremely happy to be back to Oklahoma City," commented Jarrail Jackson.

Jackson played for the University of Oklahoma under head coaches John Blake and Bob Stoops. While at OU, Jackson was a three time All-Big 12 receiver and set Sooner records during his senior year in which he collected 54 catches for 659 yards and seven touchdowns. He finished his career at OU with eight receiving and return records and ranks second in school history with 1,238 punt return yards.

"You can't coach experience. With the addition of Jarrail, we now have three receivers with 19 years of arena football experience," commented Head Coach John Fitzgerald.

Additionally, the Yard Dawgz have been assigned kicker Dylan Pohlman and OL/DL Jason Russell by the arenafootball2 league office.

Pohlman (5'11, 170) was with the Yard Dawgz in 2005 before being replaced by the af2 Kicker of the Year, A.J. Haglund. While with the Yard Dawgz, Pohlman was 3-of-5 FGs and 20-of-28 PATs. Since 2005, Pohlman spent time with the Arkansas Twisters and Manchester Wolves. He was also with the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (2003) and the now-defunct Wichita Stealth (2004) before coming to Oklahoma City.

OL/DL Jason Russell (6'6, 320) has been assigned to the team after spending time on the roster for the Austin Wranglers of the AFL. Russell also attended training camp with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts.

Collegiately, Russell led the Central Arkansas Bears offensive line for four seasons where he started 32-of-44 games played and earned All-Gulf South Conference honors in 2004.

The Yard Dawgz have released WR Danny Howard, DS Walter Priestley, and kicker Keith Toogood and have placed WR/DB Pierre Velazquez on left squad.
