Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats announced today that less than 1000 tickets remain available for this Saturday's game against the South Georgia Wildcats, Florida's final home game of the regular season.

"This is an important game for us and our fans are getting behind the team," Firecats President and General Manager Chris Vallozzi said. "Our fans make Germain Arena one of the loudest and toughest places for visiting teams to come into in the league and we're counting on them to keep the place rocking."

This weeks' game could decide the winner of the National Conference South Division and ensure that the Firecats would be home in the 1st round of the playoffs. Florida leads South Georgia by 1 game in loss column in the race for the division crown. South Georgia defeated Florida by 11 points earlier this year and currently holds the head-to-head tie breaker. The Firecats have won the South Division 3 years in a row.

The Florida Firecats clinched a spot in the post-season following their 69-38 win over the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz last weekend. It will be Florida's 6th straight playoff berth, the 2nd longest streak in arenafootball2.

For the 2nd straight week the Firecats will take on the af2's #1 passing attack. Last week Oklahoma City was the leagues top dog averaging 320.9 yards per game, but the Firecats held them to just 228. South Georgia has taken over the top spot and enters this week's game posting 315.7 yards of offense per game this season.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm this Saturday July 7th. Tickets are on sale now. Call the Firecats box office at 390-CATS (2287) to reserve your seats. Fans can listen to the game online at www.FloridaFirecats.com, www.NBC-2.com & www.ABC-7.com.

If the Firecats clinch the South Division on Saturday, tickets for the 1st round game will go on sale immediately after the game. Round 1 of the af2 playoffs will begin in August.
