Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Yannick Riendeau ["ree EHN doe"] has been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to Reading. In a separate transaction, forward Charlie Kronschnabel has been returned to the Royals from the Hershey Bears of the AHL. In other transactions announced today, the Royals (i) moved forward Olivier Labelle from the 7-Day Injured Reserve to the 21-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) moved defenseman Rob LaLonde from the 3-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve; (iii) placed goaltender Andrew Engelage on the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (iv) signed goaltender Shane Davis as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender.

Riendeau (5'11/178) (21), a first year pro from Boucherville, Quebec, has played six games for Providence this season registering one assist and four penalty minutes. In 2008-09, during the regular season of his final year in major junior, Riendeau led the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in goals (58), assists (68) and points (126), as he led the Drummondville Voltigeurs to the regular season championship (Jean Rougeau Trophy). He continued his offensive exploits through the playoffs, where he racked up fifty-two points (29g-23a52) in nineteen post-season games and established a QMJHL playoff record with sixteen playoff power play goals. In leading his team to the QMJHL playoff championship (President's Cup) last season, Riendeau was awarded the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the league's Most Valuable Player in the playoffs. After being called up yesterday to Hershey, Kronschnabel played in last night's 5-0 loss for the Bears to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Kronschnabel did not register any points or penalty minutes in that game. This marks the fourth time that Shane Davis has joined the Royals' roster-three times as an EBG and once under an ECHL contract.

The Royals take on the Wheeling Nailers today (Sunday, February 14, 2010 @ 5:05 pm), when the Royals will celebrate Pink in the Rink. The team will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned after the game with the net proceeds going to benefit Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show at 4:35 pm.
