Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Y'alls (8-18), presented by Towne Properties, received the rough end of a 12-2 beating from the Windy City Thunderbolts (13-16).

Florence fell behind thanks to a three-run top of the first for Windy City. They piled on five runs in the fifth, sending nine batters to the plate. The sixth included a grand slam accounting for all of the Thunderbolts runs in that frame.

It wasn't a fun one for the Y'alls pitching staff. Starter Joe Kemlage dealt 4.1 innings before leaving with an undisclosed injury. He allowed six runs (five earned) with six hits and four strikeouts. Left-hander Gage Bihm inherited two of those runs in the fifth inning. He struggled in his 1.2 innings to the tune of four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.

After that, it was smooth sailing for the bullpen. Since Bihm retired his last two batters, when right-hander Alex Wagner struck down all six batters he faced with one strikeout, and Ben Terwilliger struck out his first two hitters, Florence enjoyed a streak of 10-straight outs. Terwilliger finished with three Ks and one walk in the ninth inning.

The bats mustered just three hits through the first five innings, but they tacked on one run in the sixth thanks to three singles from the bottom of the order. A ninth inning double from leadoff second baseman Ed Johnson spurred one more run for Florence.

The Y'alls stranded runners in scoring position in five different innings in the 10-run loss.

These two meet again for the middle game of the series back at Thomas More Stadium at 6:42 p.m. on Wednesday Night when the Y'alls celebrate Pride Night with #YallMeansAll.
