Y'alls Lefty Justin King to Sign With Brewers

FLORENCE, KY - The Milwaukee Brewers have bought the rights to Florence Y'alls LHP Justin King, making King the first Y'all to get picked up by an affiliated team this season.
King was one of the best relief pitchers in the early portion of the season for the Y'alls. In five appearances, King had a 3.68 ERA with 11 Strikeouts in seven 1/3 innings. He only walked two batters.
King came to Florence out of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The southpaw also spent two years at the University of Alabama after starting his collegiate career at Indian Hills Community College. King was a two-way player and actually had more time as a position player/hitter than as a pitcher in college.
Combined between Alabama and Louisiana-Monroe, King had 84 plate appearances to only nine pitching appearances (all of which came at ULM). On the summer collegiate circuit over the course of three years, King had 364 plate appearances to only nine pitching appearances. He was ULM's only two-way player. The Okotoks, Alberta, Canada native was an All-Region First Team hitter at Indian Hills.
King began to seriously pursue pitching last year, recording a 5.91 ERA in his final year of college at Louisiana- Monroe followed by eight games and a 6.94 ERA on the mound with the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods Summer Collegiate League.
The Y'alls continue to be a pipeline to feed players to affiliated organizations, especially to the Brewers farm system. Just last year, RHP Christian Tripp signed with the Milwaukee organization and currently is 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA and two Saves with the Carolina Mudcats (Single-A).
