Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

Gary, IN - For the second night in a row against the Sioux City Explorers, and for the fourth time in 12 games, the Gary SouthShore RailCats did not score a run, falling to the X's 2-0 Thursday night at the U.S. Steel Yard.

Despite a quality start, 'Cats starter Rene Solis was tagged with the loss after giving up two runs in six innings. Solis is now 0-5 on the season despite allowing more than three runs only twice in 11 starts this season.

The only offense in the game was provided by Sioux City third baseman Matt Koch, who hit a solo home run in the second inning, and shortstop Noah Perio Jr., who drove in a run by beating out a double play ball in the third.

Sioux City (34-13) starter John Straka went seven scoreless, marking the fifth straight quality start against RailCats' hitting.

The RailCats (21-24) have now gone 25 straight innings without scoring run and have scored only two runs in the last 36 innings.

After dropping the home series 3-1, Gary SouthShore will try to right the ship Friday as the Sioux Falls Canaries (20-26) come to town for four games at the U.S. Steel Yard.
