
X's fall to Canaries

Sioux Falls, SD......Sioux Falls scored two runs in the eighth inning as they defeated the Explorers 5-3 Tuesday in the first game of a three-game series.
The Canaries scored two runs on four hits in the eighth inning off losing relief pitcher David Trahan. It was the first lead of the game for Sioux Falls.
The Explorers had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out single by Justin Nelson. In the fifth inning, Nelson connected on a solo home run, his sixth of the year to give the X's a 2-0 lead.
Sioux Falls tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning, but the Explorers came back to take the lead again 3-2 in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Tyler Meigs. All three runs scored by the Explorers came after two outs.
The Canaries would tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh on a single by Tim Hutting, his second RBI of the game. With the game tied going into the eighth, the Canaries would score the deciding runs to pick up the victory.
These two teams will meet again Wednesday at Sioux Falls. Game time 7:05.
