Cats Wallop Captains 15-4

John Allen and Michael Bell each had four runs batted in as the Cats trounced Shreveport-Bossier 15-4 on Tuesday night at LaGrave Field.

The Cats pounded out 22 hits, a season-high that tied a record set nearly five years ago to the date on Aug. 5, 2004.

Fort Worth and Shreveport-Bossier exchanged first inning runs before the Captains took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on an RBI double by Dwayne White scoring Jonathan Reynoso.

The Cats used five consecutive singles in the third inning to take a 4-2 lead. After Pat O'Sullivan, John Allen and Michael Bell started the inning with singles, before Ryan Patterson and Kelley Gulledge each brought home runs with RBI singles. The Cats would make it 4-2 as Bell scored on a double play.

Fort Worth posted its second consecutive three-run inning int he fourth as they got an RBI single from Cameron Blair and a two-run double by Bell for a 7-2 lead. They made it 11-2 with a four-run fifth that included an RBI single by Fryer, a two-run double by Allen and another RBI from Bell.

Jose Torres smacked his fourth homer of the year in the fifth for the Captains, narrowing the Fort Worth lead to 11-4, but the Cats got those runs back in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run homer from John Allen, his 12th of the season. Fort Worth added two runs in the eighth for a season-high in runs with 15.

Bell finished the night with four hits for the third time this season. Gulledge, Blair, Fryer and Allen all had three hits as part of the 22-hit attack for Fort Worth.

Joel Kirsten went seven innings and allowed four runs on eight hits for the victory as his record improved to 8-4. Logan Williams permitted eight runs on 12 hits in four innings as he suffered the loss to drop to 8-4.

The series continues on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Jae Jung will pitch for the Cats with Ronald Lowe on the mound for Shreveport-Bossier.
