Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

Grand Prairie, TX. Matt Green grabbed his second complete game of the season yet the AirHogs bats took over the show with a 17 hit, 17-4 run win over the Pensacola Pelicans.

Leading the way offensively with homeruns were Cesar Nicolas, Javier Brito, Chad Gabriel and Daniel Berg, who hit put away a 2nd inning grand slam-the second 4-run shot in two days for the ‘Hogs.

The ‘Hogs put up 14 runs in the first four innings and scored their final three in the sixth.

After an early run in the first scored by a Cesar Nicolas solo homerun, the bleeding continued early when a hit batter and a Gabriel single put runners on the corners with one out in the 2nd and Drew Holder managed an RBI single in his first at-bat of the series. Jonathan Dziomba reached on an infield single to load the bases, allowing Daniel Berg to clear them all with his first grand slam of the season to bring the score to 6-2.

Pensacola put up an early two-run-lead in the first when Antoin Gray managed a left field homerun with the previously walked Kevin Reynolds on-base. The Pels' would manage another run in the 3rd with a three-hit at-bat, and a final Marcos Rodriguez RBI base-hit to right field to score Francisco Leandro.

Rodriguez would manage another single in the 9th and reach the plate at the hand of an Adam Darby double but that would be all Pensacola would muster against Green in nine innings and 124 pitches of work.

The AirHogs continued to roll against Pels' starter Jason Navarro and the Pels' five-error defense putting up 11 more runs on nine hits including a 2-run shot by Brito in the 3rd and solo homerun by Gabriel in the 4th. Every player in the AirHogs line-up managed a hit with Nicolas leading the way at 4-for-5 and 4 RBI.

The Pelicans committed five errors and went through two pitchers before sending in shortstop Dallas Christison to pitch the final inning.
