LEADING OFF: West Virginia lost 8-2 Saturday night at Columbia to drop one game under .500 this season. Vinny Siena tripled and scored in the bottom of the first. Jeff Diehl hit a two run home run off Dario Agrazal in the second. Three more runs crossed in the fourth to extend the Fireflies' lead to 6-0. Mitchell Tolman singled in Logan Ratledge in the fifth to break the shutout bid. Columbia added a pair in the sixth on four walks and a sac fly for an 8-1 edge. Carlos Munoz scored on a wild pitch in the eighth to close the scoring. Agrazal took the loss while Gaby Almonte earned the win. Eight different Power players reached on at least one hit.

OUT FOR NOW: With Saturday night's loss, the Power were eliminated from playoff contention in the first half of the season with eight games to go. Hagerstown holds a two and a half game lead over Hickory, a four game lead over Delmarva and is seven in front of Greensboro. The Power were eliminated with six games to go in the first half last year before winning 50 games in the second half and claiming the Northern Division crown.

ROAD WOES: The Power are now 12-18 away from Appalachian Power Park. The club boasts a .265 average at home with season with 157 runs scored over 31 home games, averaging 5.1 runs per game. On the road, the Power are batting .220 with 93 runs in 30 games, an average of 3.1 runs per game. The staff earned run average is slightly higher on the road. West Virginia holds a 3.56 ERA at home and has a 3.88 ERA on the road.

DOWN THE STRETCH: After concluding today's series in Columbia, West Virginia will travel to Lexington to take on the Legends for three days. The Power are 7-1 this season against the Legends, having won seven straight before falling in a walk-off on April 24 by an 11-10 final. Since play began on that day, West Virginia is 16-28.

BACK IN THE SADDLE: Mitch Keller was added from the Extended Spring Training roster earlier on Friday and made his 11th start of the year last night. The right-hander has not pitched since May 31 with the Pirates curtailing his innings. To clear a roster spot, Pittsburgh transferred Logan Sendelbach to the GCL Pirates roster.

ON THE SPOT: Tanner Anderson is slated to make a spot start on Monday. It would be the second spot start by a reliever out of the Power bullpen this season. It would also be the first start of Anderson's professional career.

ONE THE LINE: Mitchell Tolman has a 19-game on-base streak entering play today. The Power second baseman had two hits last night to extend his streak and pass teammate John Bormann for the longest current streak in the league. Bormann's streak has stretched into its third month since the back-up catcher has reached in every game he has played in this season.

SOUTHERN COMFORT? West Virginia is now 16-17 against Southern Division opponents this season.

POWER POINTS: Mitch Keller and Tito Polo were selected as starters for the June 21 All-Star Game in Lexington. Ke'Bryan Hayes was chosen as a reserve and trainer Dom Cappozzo will also represent the Power at Whitaker Bank Park... Former Power pitcher Alex McRae was promoted from Bradenton to Altoona on Friday. The right-hander was 8-9 for West Virginia last year with a 4.98 ERA... Neither Tyler Filliben nor Daniel Arribas had ever played the outfield professionally prior to the eighth inning of Thursday's game against Columbia.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 5-1 to St. Louis. Francisco Liriano allowed four runs, one earned, over six inning in the loss... Indianapolis scored two early runs and beat Syracuse 2-1. Tyler Glasnow struck out nine and walked five over four and two-thirds in a no-decision... Altoona lost 12-8 to Reading. Austin Meadows homered to extend his hitting streak to 20 games... Bradenton doubled up Tampa 4-2.

PROMO UPDATE: The Power host the Charleston RiverDogs on June 16. FestivALL, the 12 day celebration of arts in the city, will hold their opening ceremonies at Appalachian Power Park. The evening is also Garnet Career Center Night and will be followed by a post game concert from Tyler Childers and Ona.
