SALISBURY, MD - Delmarva hit three home runs, including a league-leading 11th by Alex Murphy, as the Shorebirds topped the BlueClaws 5-3 on Sunday afternoon at Perdue Stadium.

The win gives Delmarva (35-26) three of four in the series from the BlueClaws (24-38) and the Shorebirds are now 8-4 against Lakewood this year.

Delmarva opened the scoring on a pair of home runs - Gerrion Grim (1st) and Steve Laurino (4th) in the second inning off BlueClaws starter Tyler Gilbert.

The BlueClaws would tie the game in the third inning on a two-run Jiandido Tromp home run. It was Tromp's 9th of the season and 3rd of the series with Delmarva.

The Shorebirds, however, added two more to re-claim the lead in the third inning. An RBI double by Ryan Mountcastle put Delmarva up 3-2 and Alex Murphy's RBI groundout scored another run and gave Delmarva a 4-2 lead over the BlueClaws.

Lakewood loaded the bases in the fifth inning, getting one run on a bases loaded walk to Jiandido Tromp, but Josh Tobias and Jose Pujols both struck out to end the inning. Delmarva then extended the lead on a home run by Murphy, his league-leading 11th of the year.

Gilbert came out after allowing five runs in 4.1 innings, falling to 3-6 on the year. Delmarva starter Cristian Alvarado (4-4) gave up three runs in five innings to improve to 4-4 on the season.

The BlueClaws loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth inning but failed to score, and left a runner on first base in the seventh and two on in the eighth. All told, the BlueClaws left 10 on base and went 2-11 with runners in scoring position in the game.

Carlos Duran had two hits in the loss for the BlueClaws.

The BlueClaws head home and open a three-game series with Hagerstown on Monday night. RHP Luke Leftwich (5-3) starts for Lakewood against RHP James Borque (0-1, 15.00).
