THE LEADOFF: West Virginia lost 5-2 at Hickory Friday night. After a one hour and 41 minute rain delay, the Power took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI double by Michael Suchy. The Crawdads evened the game on a bases loaded sac fly in the home half of the inning and took a 2-1 lead on a solo home run from Carlos Arroyo in the second. Jonathan Meyer and Luke Tendler added solo home runs before Michael De Leon singled in Arroyo for a 5-1 lead after six complete. Taylor Gushue's eighth inning home run was the last of the Power offense for the night. Austin Coley allowed all five runs over six innings in the loss while Austin Pettibone worked five for the win.

TOP TWO: Hickory won the Northern Division crown in the first half of the 2015 season with a 44-24 record, beating the second place West Virginia by seven and a half games for the division title. In the second season, the Power are up on the Crawdads by five games entering play tonight. This series marks the third and finale set of the regular season between the two clubs that hold the South Atlantic League's top two overall records.

THE 304: West Virginia holds the league's best home mark at 41-20 with nine games remaining at Appalachian Power Park during the 2015 regular season. The franchise's single-season home victory record is 44, set during the 2007 season when the club went 44-26 at Appalachian Power Park.

WHOLE LOTTA GLOVE: The Power have committed 102 errors this season, second fewest in the league behind only the Crawdads. The club record for the fewest errors in a season is 146, set by the 2014 edition of the Power. The 2012 team had 188, the most in any single season in 2005. Over the previous 10 campaigns, the West Virginia Power have averaged 170 errors per year.

MATCH GAME: Jordan Luplow extended his hitting streak to 12 straight with two hits over four at bats Friday, matching Cole Tucker for the longest hitting streak by any Power player this season. The third baseman has a .388 average since August 2 with 19 hits over 49 at bats. Luplow's current streak is the longest of his young career. He hit safely in ten straight with the Jamestown Jammers last year from July 7 through 20 (13 for 41- .317 average) and had a nine game streak with the Power earlier this season.

STILL GOING: Michael Suchy's hitting streak has reached a season-best nine games after his first inning double. Taylor Gushue's streak is now at seven straight, including two hits in each of his last five games to raise his average from .212 to .236. Francisco Diaz streak is at a season-best six in a row.

YEUDY BEST: Yeudy Garcia was honored by Minor League Baseball on Monday as the best player in the South Atlantic League during July. The right-hander went 6-0 with a league-best 0.90 earned run average over six appearances, including five starts. Garcia is the first Power player to be tabbed by Minor League Baseball for an award since Tyler Glasnow was named best Class-A pitcher after the 2013 season. Garcia is slated to start Sunday against Hickory.

POWER POINTS: The Power are 28-27 on the road this season with 14 left away from home... Tito Polo's home run on Wednesday was his first since June 28 against Greensboro. Both have been leadoff shots...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh bested the New York Mets 3-2 in ten innings. Gregory Polanco drove in the go-ahead run and Aramis Ramirez added a sac fly for an insurance run as the Buccos took the opener... Indianapolis split a doubleheader with Durham, falling 6-1 on game one before taking the nightcap 7-1... Altoona allowed three runs in the bottom of the ninth in a 5-4 walk-off loss. Jhondaniel Medina allowed the comeback and took the loss... Bradenton lost 3-1 to Charlotte... The Black Bears topped Aberdeen 4-1.
