Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE, NC-- The Augusta GreenJackets won for the eighth time in ten meetings against the Asheville Tourists this season on Saturday night. Despite the Tourists playing a pretty good game, they were unable to convert in a few key spots and found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-2 score at the end of the game.

For the second night in a row Asheville found it difficult to score runs. The Tourists managed eight hits in the game, all singles. Four of the hits came in succession to open up the fourth inning. Forrest Wall, Shane Hoelscher, and Dom Nunez all reached via a single and Yonatha Daza followed with an RBI single. Unfortunately, all the Tourists were able to do after that was an RBI sacrifice fly.

Prior to the Tourists' two-run fourth, Augusta plated one in the third and one in the top of the fourth. With the score tied 2-2, Max White was at third base with one out in the fifth. A pop out followed by a groundout left White stranded at third.

In the top of the sixth, the Tourists elected to bring their starter Helmis Rodriguez back into the game and Augusta's Matt Winn greeted him with a lead-off Home Run. Grahamm Wiest then entered and pitched the remainder of the game.

The GreenJackets bullpen of Eury Sanchez and Carlos Diaz combined for five innings of scoreless baseball. Asheville has not scored a run against Augusta's bullpen in the series; spanning a total of nine innings.

Asheville will attempt to avoid being swept with Sunday afternoon's series finale scheduled or 2:05pm.
