THE LEAD OFF: The Power dropped a 6-4 final on Thursday night in the series opener at Delmarva. West Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a Connor Joe sac fly, but the Shorebirds answered on a two-run Logan Uxa triple in the home half of the inning. Jerrick Suiter's two-run homer in the third put the Power ahead, but the Shorebirds responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game and two runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. Each team plated a run in the sixth to close the scoring. Austin Coley took the loss while John Means picked up the win. Donnie Hart worked the ninth and allowed the tying run to reach base, but struck out the side to end the game. The Power have now lost two straight after winning five-in-a-row.

ON A TEAR: In four games since being activated off the Power Disabled List, Jerrick Suiter is batting .417 with a home run and six runs batted in. The TCU product has also extended his on-base streak in each game played and has now been on base in each of his last 14 games dating back to April 16 prior to his stint on the DL.

SHUFFLE UP AND DEAL: Trace Tam Sing was transferred to Extended Spring Training on Thursday. The infielder has appeared in 20 games for the Power this season, batting .222 with 13 runs batted in. The vacant roster spot was taken by reliever Andy Otamendi. The left-hander began the season with Bradenton, appearing in 13 games, going 2-5 with a 6.65 earned run average. Otamendi pitched in 14 games for West Virginia at the end of the 2014 season, going 1-0 with a 1.19 ERA.

STARTS AT THE TOP: West Virginia has outscored their opponents 193 to 166 this season, but has struggled in the first inning. The Power have been outscored 28-12 in the first inning combined this season, including two runs on Thursday night.

STREAKS ALIVE: In addition to Jerrick Suiter's 14 game on base streak, Tyler Filliben has also reached safely in 14 consecutive games. Filliben has been on base at least once in each game he has played in the month of May, starting on May 3 at Greensboro. The longest on-base streak for a Power player this season belongs to Pablo Reyes, who reached in 19 straight from April 23 though May 15.

SIX STRONG UNTIL NOW: Wednesday's loss was the first for the Power this season when the club's starting pitcher went six or more innings. West Virginia is now 6-1 when the starter goes six innings and remains 1-0 when the starting pitcher goes seven.

I RAN: West Virginia and Delmarva will meet 15 total times this season, though this four game series is the Power's only trip to Salisbury, Maryland. Since 2005, the Power are Shorebirds have played 124 games against each other and West Virginia holds a 63-61 lead. The Shorebirds do own a winning record in their home park, having beaten the Power 31 times in 53 games.

POWER PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 2: West Virginia will host its first of two Pets in the Park this season at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday, June 2. Fans are invited to bring their dogs, cats, and other ballpark friendly animals for a night of fun in Charleston.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia's road record now at 11-13. The club has not held a winning record on the road since April 21... Dovydas Neverauskas was placed on the Power Disabled List prior to Tuesday's game with a right forearm strain and the Pirates transferred reliever Julio Vivas from Bradenton to West Virginia...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh ripped San Diego 11-5 on 15 hits. AJ Burnett earned is fifth win thanks, in part, to home runs by Jung Ho Kang, Gregory Polanco and Starling Marte.... Indianapolis beat Toledo 10-5. Alen Hanson and Tony Sanchez each went 2-4 with two runs scored... Altoona fell 9-5 at New Britain. Willy Garcia hit his first home run of the season in the loss... Bradenton edged Daytona 3-1. Cody Dickson pitched five shutout innings for his fourth win and Brett McKinney earned his eighth save.
