Dickson: Allowed 1 R on 6 H over 5.0 IP in 6/30 ND vs. LWD with 3 K and 4 BB (8-7 LWD-15)

THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia dropped the series opener with the Greensboro Grasshoppers 5-2 on Friday night at NewBridge Bank Park in front of 9,855 fans. The Power got on the board in the first on an RBI groundout by Edwin Espinal. JaCoby Jones mashed his 10th home run of the season in the third on a solo blast to give the Power a 2-0 lead. The Grasshoppers, however, took over from there. Avery Romero singled in two in the bottom half and JT Riddle had an RBI base knock to take the lead. Two more by Greensboro in the seventh would put the game out of reach. Justin Topa was charged with his fifth loss while Sean Townsley earned the win and Tyler Kinley the save.

ON THE HOP: West Virginia is playing its final series at NewBridge Bank Park this season. The Power and Grasshoppers have played 133 times since 2005 when both clubs were re-branded and moved to new ballparks. West Virginia holds a 69-63 lead in the all-time set. The Power trail 35-33 in 68 games at NewBridge Bank Park including seven wins in nine games this year by Greensboro.

THE HITS KEEP COMING: Harold Ramirez notched a single in the first on Tuesday and extended his hitting streak to 23 consecutive games. Ramirez has now broken Starling Marte's Power franchise record of 22 games and passed Pat Valaika (Asheville) for longest hit streak in the South Atlantic League this season. The outfielder is hitting .346 since the streak started on June 5.

MAKING MOVES: Pittsburgh made a flurry of moves that effected the Power on Thursday. Justin Maffei and Ashley Ponce were both promoted to Bradenton from West Virginia. Andy Otamendi was transferred to the Jamestown Jammers roster while Clario Perez was promoted from the Jamestown roster after two days. Finally, Danny Collins and Francisco Diaz were activated from the Power Disabled List. Diaz and Collins both made appearances in the lineup on Thursday, including Diaz's first professional start in the outfield.

BOMBS BURSTING IN AIR: The West Virginia Power have allowed 78 home runs this season, the most of any team in the South Atlantic League. 16 of those blasts came during the most recent homstand. On Wednesday night, the Power gave up five solo home runs to the Hickory Crawdads, the most allowed by West Virginia pitching in a singe game this season. The Power, however, have hit seven of their 27 home runs in just 8 games at NewBridge Bank Park, despite having won just two games in Greensboro.

OH SO CLOSE: The West Virginia Power have still yet to walk-off with a victory in the 2014 season. The Power threatened on multiple occassions in Monday's 15 inning loss to the Lakewood BlueClaws. The Power stranded three in scoring position in extra innings. The Power have watched seven walk-offs in 2014.

PROMO UPDATE- JULY 12: The West Virginia Power battle the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Saturday, July 12, at Appalachian Power Park. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will recieve an Appalachian Power Park replica.The Power open the four-game homestand on Thursday, July 10 against Greensboro.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is 12-19 in one-run games this season. No other club in the league has played as many one-run games as West Virginia has this year... Pittsburgh placed Wyatt Mathisen on the Disabled List prior to Saturday's game with a leg injury. The third baseman is batting .263 over 74 games with three home runs and 24 RBIs. JaCoby Jones was activated from the Power Disabled List prior to Saturday's game. Jones was placed on the DL retroactive to June 21 with a left knee injury. Jeff Roy posted multi-hit performances in three of his first four games at Appalachian Power Park.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh handled the Philadelphia Phillies 8-2. Andrew McCutcheon had four hits including a pair of doubles and RBIs... Indianapolis fell to Louisville 7-6 in 11 innings... Altoona bested Harrisburg 4-2. Pat Ludwig earned the win with six innings tossed allowing just one run... Bradenton bested Palm Beach 7-4. Justin Maffei had a pair of walks and an RBI... Jamestown was outlasted by State College 11-9. Kevin Krause doubled and drove in three in the Jammers loss.
