Greenville Drive News Release

Augusta, GA - The Greenville Drive (3-14, 37-49) have experienced some painful losses in the second half, and Saturday's 6-5 defeat at the hands of the Augusta GreenJackets (7-10, 41-44) will certainly qualify in that category.

With just three outs standing between the Drive and the end of their 11-game losing streak, the GreenJackets came back from a 5-3 deficit and came away with a stunning victory. After Jonathan Aro (1-2) recorded the first out of the ninth, back-to-back singles put runners on the corners. A walk to Jeremy Sy loaded the bases, and a pair of Drive errors brought home all three runners to end the game.

Jake Smith (2-3) hurled a scoreless top half of the ninth to pick up the win.

The Drive were in the driver's seat all night long prior to the ninth, and it started with a three-run third against Chase Johnson. Kevin Mager began the inning with a single, and after a two-out walk to Tim Roberson, Carlos Asuaje continued his hot hitting by lining a two-run triple to center. Wendell Rijo followed with an RBI double to center to make the score 3-0.

Greenville starter Teddy Stankiewicz did his part to attempt to end the losing skid, but he ultimately received a no-decision despite allowing just five hits and three runs in seven innings with four strikeouts. He allowed a pair of solo homers, one to Sy and one to Tyler Horan, and an RBI double to Gabriel Cornier.

Asuaje led the Drive offense by going 2-4 with a pair of RBI, while Mager and Rijo added two hits apiece. Horan and Sy each had two hits and a homer for Augusta.

The Drive will send LH Trey Ball (1-7, 6.52) to the mound on Sunday afternoon as they look to avoid a sweep in the three-game set. Augusta LH Carlos Diaz (4-6, 4.11) will hurl the game's first pitch at 2:00.
