Shorebirds Game Notes vs. Lakewood

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds crushed the Lakewood BlueClaws with an offensive onslaught, winning 17-5 in the series opener. For Delmarva, it was the most runs scored in a single game this season. Gregory Lorenzo went 4-for-5 with two triples and five RBIs, while Chance Sisco hit his fourth home run, racking four RBIs.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Jon Prosinski will start the middle game of the three-game set. Prosinski has gone 2-1 with a 4.15 ERA in seven starts for Lakewood this season. The right-hander received a no-decision in his only start against Delmarva back on June 7th. Prosinski allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over seven innings. The Philadelphia Phillies selected Prosinski in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Seton Hall University.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles were rained out in Boston due to Hurricane Arthur pass- ing through New England. The O's will play a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park. With To- ronto's 1-0 loss in 12 innings to the Oakland Athletics, the Orioles are currently in solo 1st place in the AL East with a 1/2 game lead.

THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

WHO'S HOT/WHO ELSE

DREW DOSCH | 3B

The Shorebirds' All- Star third baseman has started the second half well. In back-to-back games in Hagerstown, Dosch delivered a 9th inning RBI base hit for a key insurance run. Dosch is currently batting .315, 10th in the South Atlantic League. Dosch is currently 2nd in the league with 100 hits, behind Wilmer Difo (108, HAG).

WHO'S HOT - CONOR BIERFELDT

The Shorebirds outfielder & designated hit- ter went 3-for-4 on Thursday night. In the three games at Kannapolis, Bierfeldt hit four doubles and three RBIs. Bierfeldt is now 2nd on the team with 20 doubles, behind Kemp.

WHO ELSE - CHANCE SISCO

Since the All-Star Break, Chance Sisco has been otherworldly. The Shorebirds catcher is batting .417 (25-for-70) in 15 games in the second half. Sisco is now 2nd in the SAL with a .338 batting average.
