Game 59 | June 4, 2014 | Appalachian Power Park | Charleston, WV

Radio: Charleston's ESPN 104.5 & 1490 - wvpower.com Airtime: 6:45 pm

TONIGHT'S MATCH-UP

LH Jordan Guerrero (3-0, 2.41) vs. RH Luis Heredia (3-2, 4.76)

Guerrero: Making first spot start of the season (Threw 2.0 scoreless in 5/31 relief outing Win)

Heredia: Threw one pitch in 4/12 start vs. LEX and was placed on Disabled List on 4/14

THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia lost 3-0 on Tuesday against Kannapolis in a rain-shortened no-hitter. Thad Lowry worked five complete, limiting the Power to just two fifth inning walks while striking out five. The Intimidators plated two runs in the fourth on run-scoring hits from Jacob Morris and Trey Michalczewski. Kannapolis added a run in the top of the fifth to close the scoring. Prior to the sixth, a storm system moved through Charleston and ended the game. Dovydas Neverauskas took the loss for West Virginia, who have now lost four straight.

TWO POWER ALL-STARS: The South Atlantic League has announced the rosters for the 60th league All-Star Game. Catcher Reese McGuire and infielder Erich Weiss have been selected by managers, media and front office staff from across the league to represent the Power in the mid-season classic, to be held at Hickory's L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday, June 17. McGuire is batting .283 and is one of the best defensive catchers in the league while Weiss has the seventh best in the league at .323. Both players were selected as reserves.

ZEROED OUT: The Power went no-hit for just the second time in franchise history. The last time West Virginia went without any hits in any game was June 19, 2005 at Hagerstown in a bid paced by Gabriel Hernandez. Tuesday's rain-shortened effort marked the third in Kannapolis history. Brian Miller no-hit Greensboro on June 10, 2003 for the first and three arms combined to no-hit the Suns in game two of a June 5 doubleheader last season.

RIGHTIE RETURNS: Luis Heredia was activated from the Disabled List earlier today and will start tonight against Kannapolis. The right-hander left his second start of the season after one pitch with right shoulder discomfort and was placed on the injured list on April 14. Heredia, a non-drafted free agent signed by Pittsburgh in 2010, spent 51 days on this Disabled List.

DOWN AND OUT: To make room for pitcher Luis Heredia on the active roster, the Pirates have transferred pitcher Miguel Rosario to the Jamestown Jammer roster. To clear a space in the rotation for the 19-year-old, Pittsburgh has shifted Shane Carle to the bullpen. Carle has made 11 appearances for the Power this season, all starts, but pitched primarily out of the Jammers bullpen in 2013.

MCGUIRE HALTED AT 19: Reese McGuire's hitting streak was stopped at 19 games after going hitless in four at bats on Monday. The 19-year-old's streak was the second longest by any player in the league this season and trailed only Starling Marte's 22 game run in 2009 as the longest by a Power player during the Pirates affiliation. McGuire's streak started on May 7 and the catcher had 27 hits over 77 at bats during the streak, a .351 clip, and raised his average from .219 to .291 during the streak.

FEAR FACTOR: The Power and Intimidators close their second three-game series in Chalreston this season. West Virginia has beaten the Intimidators four times in six games at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in North Carolina, but has yet to win in five chances at home. The Power lead the all-time series 52-51, though are only 23-27 at home.

PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 14: West Virginia welcomes Delmarva on June 14 at 7:05 pm. The club will celebrate Chuck, the Power mascot, and his birthday. 100 bikes will be given away to kids 12 and under. The Pittsburgh Pirate Parrot will also make an appearance to entertain fans.

POWER POINTS: Justin Maffei is batting .333 with nine hits over 27 at bats during his current six game hitting streak, dating back to May 26. It is Maffei's second streak this season of six games or more with at least one hit... Josh Bell and Orlando Castro were named Florida State League All-Stars on Tuesday. Both were SAL All-Stars last season.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh edged San Diego 4-1. Gerrit Cole worked five and two-thirds for his sixth win... Indianapolis lost 5-1 at Syracuse. Gregory Polanco drove in the lone Indians run... Altoona lost 15-6 to Binghamton. Willy Garcia drove in five, but the Curve could not overcome a seven-run Mets fifth inning... Bradenton scored seven in the first to put the Threshers away early.

ON THE AIR: West Virginia Power games can be heard on Charleston's ESPN 104.5 FM and 1490 AM in Charleston, online at wvpower.com and on the TuneIn Radio App. Adam Marco will call the action for all 140 games and will be joined by Jake Corrigan when the team plays at Appalachian Power Park.
