
GreenJackets Win Final Game of Series Against Braves

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (28-29) won the final game of the series against the Rome Braves (18-41) on Wednesday night, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The final score was 12-8.
The GreenJackets put two on the board in the first due to a throwing error by Ronald Luna. The Braves answered in the third when Jake Schrader doubled to center field driving in two runs. However, the GreenJackets were quick to answer with a run in the bottom of the inning. Rafael Rodriguez drove in one run on a sacrifice fly.
The GreenJackets expanded their lead in the fifth inning with three more runs. Brandon Bednar drove in the first run on a single to right field. Rafael Rodriguez drove in his second run of the night with a forced ground out and Ryan Tuntland drove in the third run with a double to left field.
The Braves scored two more runs in the eighth inning when Carlos Franco doubled to center field. However, the GreenJackets answered with another five runs in the bottom of the inning. With the bases loaded, Braves pitcher Michael Swanner, walked Rando Moreno. Ryder Jones then doubled to deep left field which drove in two more runs. Rafael Rodriguez and Ryan Tuntland each singled home a run.
The Braves scored their final three runs in the eighth inning. After Connor Oliver doubled to right field Ross Wilson and Victor Caratini singled back to back which drove in two runs. Victor Reyes plated the final run with a single to left field.
The GreenJackets finished the game with two doubles by Ryder Jones, a triple by Chris Lofton and 10 RBI. This is the first time the GreenJackets have scored more than ten runs since May 24 when the team played at Greenville and won 14-0.
The GreenJackets continue their homestand with a four game series against the Lexington Legends beginning Thursday, June 5 at 7 p.m. It's Thirsty Thursday presented by The Country Club Dance Hall and Saloon and Hooters.
