Savannah, Ga.- The Tourists came to Savannah, wandered around the city's picturesque squares and took lots of pictures, and more importantly, two of three games from the Gnats including a 12-6 blowout win Wednesday evening.

Asheville now sits five games behind the Gnats for first place with 13 games to play in the first half for Savannah and 12 for Asheville.

Asheville (34-24) scored seven runs in the third inning to establish an 8-0 lead and chase Savannah starter Ricky Knapp from the game after only 2.2 innings. The Tourists sent 11 men to the plate helped by five straight men reaching base safely with two outs.

The Gnats (38-18) got a run back in the third after loading the bases on a SS Gavin Cecchini sacrifice fly. Cecchini finished 2-for-4 with doubles, his 12th and 13th of the year. He drove home another run with a double for the Gnats in a two-run fifth that brought Savannah back to 9-3 down.

Asheville added a run in the fourth inning, two in the seventh and one in the eighth for their 12 runs.

The Gnats picked up three runs back in the seventh, highlighted by Colton Plaia's two run homerun to close to within 11-6. The homerun was Plaia's second of the year.

The Gnats hit the road for seven straight games - four in Charleston and three in Kannapolis - this week before returning home to host the Augusta GreenJackets for six games in four days to finish the first half beginning with a doubleheader on Thursday, June 12.
