LAKEWOOD, NJ - Lakewood and Greensboro split a double-header on Wednesday at FirstEnergy Park, with the Grasshoppers taking the opener 1-0 and the BlueClaws the night-cap 2-0.

In game one, Ryan Newell improved to 5-4 throwing a complete game shutout in the 7-inning win. Lakewood starter Ranfi Casimiro threw five scoreless innings as well, but the Grasshoppers got a run in the sixth inning off Lakewood's Cody Forsythe (2-1) on an RBI groundout by Felix Munoz to bring in JT Riddle.

It was the sixth time the BlueClaws, who had four hits in the game, have been shutout this year.

Game two featured more stellar pitching, with Lakewood's Julio Reyes (1-2) throwing five scoreless innings for the win and Ulises Joaquin getting the final six outs for his second save of the year.

The BlueClaws got a run in the first inning on an RBI single by Willians Astudillo and another in the sixth on a Mitch Walding SAC fly. Andrew Knapp had two hits in the game two win as well.

The combined shutout by Reyes and Joaquin was the third for the BlueClaws this year.

Astudillo went 0-3 in the first game and his hitting streak was snapped at 18, six off the BlueClaws franchise record of 24 set by Jiwan James in 2010.

Lakewood heads to Delmarva on Thursday to open a four-game series. RHP Tyler Viza (2-6, 4.66) starts the opener for the BlueClaws opposite LHP Mitch Horacek (3-5, 2.64).
