THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia beat Greensboro 6-2 in 12 innings on Friday night. The Power took a 1-0 lead in the third on a Candon Myles base hit to plate Chris Diaz. Trailing 2-1 in the eighth, Edwin Espinal singled in Reese McGuire from second base to even the score. After putting runners on in the ninth, tenth and 11th innings, the Power loaded the bases with one out in the 12th inning. JaCoby Jones drove a 0-1 pitch from Miguel Del Pozo over the left-center field wall to give West Virginia the lead for good. Del Pozo took the loss while Isaac Sanchez worked two innings and was the benefactor of the extra inning run support.

NINETEEN STRAIGHT: Reese McGuire's hitting streak reached 19 games with an eighth inning double on Friday. The 19-year-old's streak is the longest active run in the South Atlantic League and trailed only Asheville's Pat Valaika and his 22-game streak in April to early May as the longest by any player in the league this season. McGuire's streak is also the longest by a Power player since Starling Marte hit safely in 22 straight during the 2009 season.

TO THE HOP: West Virginia continues its second of three series this season at Greensboro. The Power and Grasshoppers have met 127 times since 2005 and West Virginia holds a 69-58 mark in the all-time set. The Power have won 33 and lost 32 at NewBridge Bank Park, including two wins and four losses this season

EXTRA FUN: The Power are now 2-0 in extra innings this season after Friday night's win over the Grasshoppers. After having not played an extra inning game over the first 38 games of the year, the club has played bonus baseball twice in the last 16 games. Lakewood is the only team in the league who have gone to extra innings less (one time).

AIN'T IT GRAND: JaCoby Jones grand slam on Saturday night was the third by a Power player this season and second this week. The shortstop has now hit a team-best seven home runs this season and leads West Virginia with 27 runs batted in. All seven home runs have been hit on the road and he has driven in 15 of his 27 runs with big flies this season.

HALF OF A HALF: West Virginia has 16 games remaining in the first half of the 2014 season. The franchise record for fewest wins in one half of a season is 23, set in the 2012 season under manager Rick Sofield. The inaugural club won 25 games in the first half. The club record for wins any any half of any season is 48, set in the first half of the 2008 campaign.

HIGH QUALITY: On Thursday night, Dovydas Neverauskas worked six complete innings for the first time in his professional career. The Lithuanian has made ten starts this season after starting 15 games in 2013 for Jamestown and had pitched five complete or five-plus innings 13 times over 24 starts. Thursday's start also marked the first quality start in Neverauskas's brief career.

PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 3: West Virginia hosts Kannapolis at 7:05 pm on Tuesday, June 3. It is the first of two "Bark in the Park" games at Appalachian Power Park this season. Dogs are admitted free without a ticket.

POWER POINTS: Tuesday's loss was the Power 14th defeat by one run this season, by far the most in the South Atlantic League. West Virginia is 7-14 in one-run games this season. No other club in the league has played more than 17 one-run games this season... Kawika Emsley-Pai was transferred back to West Virginia's roster Thursday by Pittsburgh after spending 10 days with the Altoona Curve. To clear a roster spot, Pittsburgh transferred Francisco Diaz to the Jamestown roster for the second time this season.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh held off the LA Dodgers 2-1. Francisco Liriano earned his first win of the season and Jason Grilli notched his seventh save... Indianapolis knocked out Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre 11-6... Altoona dropped a 1-0 12 inning final vs New Hampshire. Adrain Sampson tossed eight scoreless, but the Curve were blanked for the fourth time this year... Bradenton lost 3-2 to Tampa and saw its four game winning streak snapped. Walker Gourley and Josh Bell had two hits each in the loss.
