(Greensboro, NC)- The West Virginia Power lost 5-3 to the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Saturday. The Grasshoppers built a 5-0 lead before the Power plated three eighth inning runs to close the scoring.

Greensboro took a 1-0 lead against Power starter Buddy Borden (2-3) in the third inning on a run-scoring ground out and added two in the fourth on a home run by Kentrell Dewitt. The 'Hoppers added a run against West Virginia reliever Henry Hirsch in the sixth inning and a fifth tally on a Feliz Munoz solo home run in the sixth.

Domingo German (5-1) retired the first 13 Power hitters he face and limited West Virginia to four hits over the first seven innings. In the eighth with German still on the hill, Justin Maffei, Harold Ramirez and JaCoby Jones each singled to load the bases. Edwin Espinal singled in two and a third run scored on an error to cut the deficit to two at 5-3. Josh Easley put the tying run on base but proceeded to finish off the inning without allowing another run. Sean Donatello struck out the side for his seventh save of the season.

The Power and Grasshoppers close this four game series late Sunday afternoon before West Virginia returns home on Monday, June 2, to host the Kannapolis Intimidators.
