KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Kannapolis Intimidators used a pair of home runs to edge the first place Hagerstown Suns, 3-2, on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.

With Hagerstown up 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Hunter Jones gave Kannapolis its first lead with a 2-run home run (2) to left center field for a 3-2 lead.

The Suns loaded the bases against Matt Abramson in the top of the seventh with two outs, but the Kannapolis closer was able to leave the bases loaded to secure the save (3).

Robinson Leyer spun 6.0 strong innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits for the win. Leyer (3-3) struck out two and walked one.

Hagerstown took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Wilmer Difo reached on an error and stole second before John Wooten doubled him in.

Kale Kiser tied the game for Kannapolis, 1-1, with a solo home run to right field (1) off Jake Johansen with one out in the bottom of the third.

Johanson (4-2), the Nationals second round pick out of Dallas Baptist University in the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft, struck out six batters over his first four innings on the mound but gave up three runs on there hits, including a pair of home runs, in the loss
