Wray Named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals are proud to announce that left wing Scott Wray has been named the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for Week 7 by the United Hockey League Monday afternoon.
Left wing Scott Wray led the Jackals in scoring this week and earned the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week award. Wray scored 5 goals and was +1 on the weekend, the highest single week goal output of the season for one Jackal. The Ottawa, Ontario native scored one goal Wednesday in a 4-1 walkover of Chicago, then scored two key goals including the game-tying goal with 3:05 remaining in regulation Friday night in Elmira's comeback shootout win. Saturday Wray scored both of the Jackals goals in their 4-2 loss to the Hounds. On the week Wray fired 21 shots on goal, giving him a 23.8% shooting percentage against Chicago goaltender Marty Magers. Wray's 20 points leads the Jackals in scoring and ties him for 7th in the UHL in points. He also leads the Jackals in goals (11), power play goals (5) and shots (82).
"We are proud of Scott's accomplishments," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "He has been a very positive contributor for our team and we look for him to continue to get better as the season unfolds."
The 26-year old playing in his 9th professional season becomes the third Jackals player to receive a UHL weekly award; Kris Tebbs was named the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for Week 2 and Brent Cullaton was the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for Week 4.
The Jackals head on the road for three games this weekend in Muskegon, Chicago and Quad City. The will return home on Friday December 8th as they host the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 pm wearing their special Christmas jerseys at First Arena.
