Wranglers win fifth straight, take Pacific Division lead

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® posted a 4-0-0 record last week, starting with a 5-4 shootout win over Fresno on Tuesday at the Orleans Arena. The Wranglers edged the Phoenix RoadRunners 2-1 on Friday night at home. Saturday, Las Vegas won in Phoenix by a score of 5-3. Sunday, the Wranglers beat Long Beach 4-2 at the Long Beach Arena.

With five straight wins, the Wranglers have taken a two-point lead over Bakersfield for the Pacific Division. The Wranglers will play their next two games against the Condors starting Friday in Bakersfield at 7:05 pm. Las Vegas will return home to host the Condors on Tuesday, March 27th. Friday, March 30th the Wranglers will host the Alaska Aces at 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans to the game receive a Wranglers' playoff puck compliments of Health Plan of Nevada and Southwest Medical Associates. Saturday, March 31st, Las Vegas will host Alaska at 7:05 pm. Before the game, from 4:30 - 6:30 in the concourse of the Orleans Arena, fans may attend the Port of Subs Pre-Game Party.

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Fresno Falcons 5-4 on Tuesday night in front of 3,429 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' winger Marco Peluso had a goal and an assist in the win. Goalie Mike McKenna stopped 28 shots in the game, and all five shooters in the shootout for his 19th win of the season. Falcons' winger Rob McFeeters scored twice in the loss.

Phoenix 1 at Las Vegas 2

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners 2-1 on Friday night in front of 5,729 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' center Derek Edwardson scored a goal in his first game back from the American Hockey League. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Nastiuk stopped 24 shots for the victory. Winger Arpad Mihaly netted a goal and assisted on Edwardson's tally. Left wing Justin Aikins tallied the lone Phoenix goal in the loss.

Saturday, March 17th

Las Vegas 5 at Phoenix 3

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners 5-3 at the U.S. Airways Center on Saturday night. Winger Arpad Mihaly scored his 24th goal of the season with 2:46 remaining in the game to cap off a late third-period rally for Las Vegas. Defensemen Mike McBain and Jason Jozsa, as well as forwards Nick Anderson and Joe Tallari each scored in the victory. Las Vegas goalie Mike McKenna made 19 saves for his 20th win of the year. Forwards Steve Crampton and Adam Cracknell each dished out two assists for Las Vegas.

Sunday, March 18th

Las Vegas 4 at Long Beach 2

Long Beach, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs 4-2 at the Long Beach Arena on Sunday night. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 34 saves, leading Las Vegas to the team's fifth straight win and sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division. Defenseman Ryan Bonni's power-play goal with 4:03 remaining in the second period proved to be the game-winner. Center Tyler Mosienko and Captain Mike McBain each dished out two assists in the win. Forwards Ryan Donally and Steve Crampton, as well as defenseman Aaron Power each scored in the win.

Bakersfield Condors - (39-14-10, 88 points, 2nd Place, Pacific)

The Condors trail the Wranglers by two points in the Pacific Division, but have a game in hand. The Condors will host the Fresno Falcons on Wednesday night. The Condors are 7-1-2 in their last ten games played and 15-2-5 since January 31st. Forward Sean Venedam leads the Condors in with 25 goals and 41 assists for 66 points in 61 games. Left wing Brett Lutes leads the team with 27 goals scored, and he has 33 assists totaling 60 points. In his last ten games he has 11 points. Lutes has scored the first goal of the game six different times this season, placing him third overall in the ECHL. Veteran winger Kevin St. Jacques has chipped in with 17 goals and 45 assists for 62 points. Condors forward Josh Liebenow is tied for first in the ECHL with seven game-winning goals this season. Goalie Jamie Hodson is 28-7-7 with a 2.46 goals against average.
