South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The Stingrays had a busy week playing five games in six days, taking road trips to Estero, FL and Pensacola, FL, and winning four of their five games.
The Rays began the week down in Estero for a Tuesday and Wednesday series against the Everblades. Tuesday's game ended in regulation in dramatic fashion with nine third period goals scored between the teams. After a scoreless overtime, Jarrett Konkle and Peter Szabo converted in the shootout with Davis Parley stopping all shots to ensure a South Carolina 7-6 victory. Wednesday's game ended with another Stingrays victory as Matt Reid tallied his second hat trick of the season with an even strength, power play, and short-handed goal. The final score was 5-2.
The Stingrays played the 'Blades for the third game in a row back at the North Charleston Coliseum and despite the Stingrays striking first on a Brendan Bernakevitch power play goal, Florida scored five unanswered goals to win 5-1.
In another come-from-behind victory, the Stingrays defeated the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Friday night in a shootout down in Pensacola. Chris Chaput scored the tying goal with just over a minute left to play. In the shootout Jarrett Konkle and Evan Schwabe scored and Daren Machesney stopped all four shots he faced. The Stingrays won 4-3.
The last of the Stingrays five games was played on Sunday afternoon in South Carolina. In Tyler Morin's professional debut, he scored the game-winning goal early in the third period and Davis Parley stopped all eleven shots he faced in that final stanza and the Rays went on the win 3-2.
The Stingrays now have won seven of their last eight games and are 7-3-0 in their last ten games. The are currently in fourth place in the division, closely followed by the Augusta Lynx and Charlotte Checkers.

The Stingrays are 34-24-7 for 75 points. They earned eight of the possible ten points this week and are four points ahead both Augusta and Charlotte for fourth place in the South Division.
The Stingrays are 4th place in the conference and 8th in the league.
Roster Notes:
Marc Busenburg has been recalled to the Hershey Bears. He joins Stephen Werner, who remains with the Rays AHL affiliate.
Donny Grover rejoined the Rays this week and had one goal and three assists over the five games.
Cam McCaffrey was called up to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. It's his first call-up this season.
Sasha Pokulok was activated off the 3-day injured reserve, and Viktor Dovgan was placed on the 3-day IR.
Tim Judy was re-signed to the team prior to Sunday's game against the Ice Pilots.
Special Teams:
The Stingrays rank 4th at home on the power play converting 20.2% of the time, and are last in the league on the road only converting 12.3%. Overall, the Rays are 10th with a 16.6%.
For the penalty kill, the Stingrays are 11th at home with 83.8%, 7th on the road with 85.1% and 7th overall with 84.4%
The Stingrays are averaging 3.48 goals a game this season, which is 8th in the league, and are allowing an average of 3.49 goals a game, 17th in the league.
League Leaders:
Donny Grover had an individual game high of 13 shots on goal on March 17th.
Evan Schwabe's 65 points ties him for 14th in the league. His 27 power play assists ties him for 4th.
T.J. McElroy is tied for third among rookies for minor penalties with 38.
Nate Kiser remains third among defensemen in penalty minutes with his 201 and tied for fourth in major penalties with eleven.
Davis Parley jumps to first in wins with 30. He is first in minutes (3279), second in saves (1600) and first in overtime wins (5). He was one of six goaltenders in the league to record a shutout last week, his third of the year.
Upcoming Events:
Josh Anderson and Evan Schwabe will be visiting the kids at After School Adventure from 5-6pm on Tuesday, March 20th.
Steve Fraser, Vice President of Sales, will be at Morning Side Middle School on Wednesday Morning from 9-11am for a career fair.
Kid's Club Members - the whole team will be out at Blackbeard's Cove on Friday Night from 6-8pm for the last event of the season.
Chris Chaput, Jarrett Konkle, Josh Anderson, and Scott Romfo will be bowling for Big Brothers and Big Sisters at Dorchester Lanes on Saturday at 12:30.
TJ McElroy and Brendan Bernakevitch will be at the Shoney's in West Ashley to sign autographs and visit with fans.
