Ellis heads up to the AHL

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that 21-year-old Julien Ellis has been recalled to the Moose because of an injury suffered by Goaltender Wade Flaherty. This is the second recall of the rookie netminder this season.

In 34 games with Victoria, Ellis holds the most wins by a Salmon Kings goaltender in his 18-14-1-1 record, and has earned a 0.910 save percentage. Since his return to Victoria after the first recall to Manitoba, the native of Sorel, PQ started in 12 straight games and posted a 8-4-1-1 record, including his first pro shutout on February 14 against Stockton.

He has played six games with the Moose this season, with no wins and a 0.885 save percentage. The 6-foot, 177-lb goaltender was selected by Vancouver in round 6 (#189 overall) of the 2004 NHL entry draft.

Prior to turning pro, Ellis spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Shawinigan Cataractes and tallied 88 wins, eight shut outs, and an overall goals against average of 2.85, in 173 games.
