
Wranglers Take Over Pacific Division, Win Eighth In A Row

Ontario, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (26-18-4, 56 points) defeated the Ontario Reign (25-18-4, 54 points) 5-1 on Wednesday night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena. With their eight win a row, Las Vegas now passes Ontario and takes sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division. Left wing Mick Lawrence (2g-1a), center Tyler Mosienko (3a) and Captain Shawn Limpright (1g-2a) each had three points in the win. In his Las Vegas debut, goalie Matt Keetley stopped 21 of 22 for his first ECHL win. Defensemen Dan Spang and Mike Madill also scored as the Wranglers won their fifth straight road game. Spang, Mosienko and Lawrence each finished with a +4 rating, helping the Wranglers improve to 11-10-2 on the road this year. Las Vegas will play in Ontario this coming Saturday at 7:00 PM.
Las Vegas built a 3-0 lead in the first period led by a pair of goals from Mick Lawrence and three assists by center Tyler Mosienko. Lawrence opened the game with his first goal of the night at 5:13 of the first period. Moseinko and Shawn Limpright set up the Lawrence's tenth goal of the season for the 1-0 lead. Mosienko set up Limpright's ninth goal of the season at 10:38 for a 2-0 Las Vegas lead. Mosienko and Limpright set up Lawrence for his second goal of the night at 15:07. Lawrence's 11th goal of the season gave the Wranglers a 3-0 lead after one period of play. Captain Shawn Limpright had three points in the opening period.
In the second period, Las Vegas defenseman Mike Madill snapped a wrist shot from the point, through traffic and into the back of the Ontario net at 7:41. Lawrence and defenseman Dan Spang set up Madill's fifth goal of the season. The power-play tally extended the Las Vegas lead to 4-0 after two periods of play.
In the third period, Ontario stopped goalie Matt Keetley's shutout bid at 11:46. Winger Ryan MacGregor scored his fourth goal of the year with 8:14 remaining, trimming the Wranglers lead to 4-1. Defenseman Dan Spang netted his second goal of the year at 15:03. The unassisted goal gave Las Vegas a 5-1 victory.
The Wranglers will travel to Ontario for a game at 7:00 PM on Saturday, February 14th. Las Vegas will return home to host Utah at 2:05 PM on Sunday, February 15th. The Wranglers will play their last home game of February on Monday, February 16th at 2:05 PM against Phoenix.
