Johnstown Chiefs News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch, announced today the details of two big promotions next weekend aimed at helping the effort to better the Johnstown communtiy.

First, on Friday, February 20 the Chiefs will host their second Going Green Night presented by Business Records Management. While the first Going Green Night was aimed at education, this one gives Chiefs fans the chance to win! Those attending the game can bring documents to the Business Records Management table set up in the War Memorial lobby to be securely disposed of and recycled.

Bring up to one box of old paper documents to the Chiefs game against South Carolina on February 20, and be entered in a drawing to win a Chiefs Prize Pack - a jersey, autographed stick, arena tour and a coupon to shred up to four boxes of paper from BRM.

"BRM shreds old documents such as bills, invoices, credit card receipts, tax paperwork and other statements," explained BRM's marketing supervisor Dave Phillips. "Everything will be shredded and recycled to benefit the environment and help the community to go green. Each ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, two barrels of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, and 4,000 kilowatts of energy."

Also, those who bring documents to the game are eligible to receive one free children's ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket.

That will be followed by the first ever "Face Off Against Hunger" food drive. The Chiefs have partnered with Rotary International to help put an end to hunger in our area. Everyone attending the game on Sunday, February 22 at 2:35 p.m. ET against Elmira is asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated and help the cause. Those who donate food to the drive will be eligible to receive $2 off of their ticket for that afternoon's game.

"The Chiefs are proud to partner with community-minded organizations such as Business Records Management and Rotary International to help bring awareness to these very worthy causes. As an integral member, we feel it is our duty to contribute to quality of life issues and to the overall greater good of our community," said General Manager and Vice President Bill Bredin.

Mark your calendars! The Chiefs are back on home ice on Friday, February 13 and will host the Reading Royals. That game will feature the Chiefs' "Lucky 13" tickets. Any seat in section 13, or any seat numbered 13, can be purchased for just $13. Good seats are available, but going quickly!
