Wedding Vows, Hockey Collide This Saturday

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, in partnership with KAT Country 103 is scheduled to host "The Great American Wedding Rink," an event which 103 couples will tie the knot or renew their vows on the ice during the Saturday, Feb. 14 game when the Thunder hosts the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 p.m. at the Stockton Arena.

During the first event of its kind in the club's four-year history, the ceremony will take place during the first intermission on the most romantic holiday of the calendar year.

Radio personality "D.J. Walker" of KAT Country 103, an ordained minister in the state of California, is scheduled to preside over the ceremonies.

An itinerary of the entire festivities is as follows:

Couples check-in at Stockton Arena (North Entry conference room)

(1st period)

Participants raffle for wedding prizes (North Entry conference room)

(1st intermission)

Couples exchange wedding vows with D.J. Walker on ice surface

(2nd period)

Couples invited to watch game from respective seats

Each participating couple will receive four complimentary tickets to the game courtesy of the Thunder, while additional tickets for family and friends were made available for purchase at a discounted rate. Registered couples for the festivities will also be eligible to win special wedding prizes from Ciccarelli Jewelers, Segale Travel and Carnival Cruise Lines and The Lexington Waterfront Hotel.

The proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, the Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
