Wranglers Take 4-3 Shootout Win from Eagles
December 12, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Loveland, Col. - The Las Vegas Wranglers beat the Colorado Eagles tonight, winning 4-3 in a shootout to secure a comeback victory.
Eagles right wing Luke Fulghum kicked off scoring with a power play goal seven minutes into the contest. At the end of 20 minutes, Colorado held the 1-0 lead and the 13-5 shot advantage. Only 70 seconds into the middle period, Wranglers left wing Adam Hughesman tied the game with his fifth goal of the season, and forward Carlo Finucci gave Las Vegas their first lead of the night 1:14 later. Colorado would make it a 2-2 game midway through the second off the stick of forward Greg Gardner, and a power play goal from forward Kevin Ulanski, with eight seconds left in the period, regained the one-goal lead for the Eagles.
Snatching the regulation 3-2 win from Colorado, Wranglers center Chris Francis posted a power play goal with 3:26 left in the third to knot the game 3-3. Five minutes of overtime couldn't decide the game, and the two teams went to a shootout. Wranglers goalie Travis Fullerton stopped four Colorado shooters as centers John Armstrong and Francis beat Eagles goalie Mark Cheverie to collect the 4-3 win.
The two teams meet again Friday and Saturday nights, with both road games starting at 6:05 p.m. Fans are invited to watch Friday's game at Scooter's Pub, located at 6200 S. Rainbow Blvd, for a team viewing party, featuring non-traveling players and raffle prizes. The Wranglers return home for the 11th annual Midnight Game on Monday, Dec. 16, at 11:59 p.m. as the Ontario Reign come to town.
