Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (12/12/13) - The ECHL's Idaho Steelheads will put away their popular, fish-crested jerseys this weekend as St. Luke's and Fit One present the "Hockey For Healthy Kids" Dallas Stars jersey auction.
The team will wear the jerseys of its NHL affiliate, the Dallas Stars, which will be auctioned off to raise money for St. Luke's Children's Hospital.
The jerseys will be auctioned off via silent auction behind Section 113 on the CenturyLink Arena concourse during Friday and Saturday's home games against the Alaska Aces. Fans are encouraged to place bids on the sheets of their favorite players with the winning bidder having the opportunity to head down to ice-level following Saturday night's game to get the jersey from the player.
One hundred percent of the money raised will go toward programs that work to improve physical activity, nutrition and education promoting healthy habits; ultimately creating healthy children who become healthy adults. The Steelheads have been doing jersey auctions since 1998 and have raised north of $430,000 with every penny of the revenue going to local charities and non-profit organizations.
Yeah! (Youth Engaged in Activities for Health), Bogus Basin Summer Camp, the Be Well Now Festival and the Star Track program represent some of the St. Luke's Children's Hospital programs, engaging our community to create healthy people and healthy places.
The Steelheads and Aces do battle Friday and Saturday night with game time at 7:10 PM each night. Tickets are available by contacting the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208-331-8497.
Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
