BOISE, Idaho - Goaltender Josh Robinson made 26 saves and the Idaho Steelheads used four goals in the first period to defeat the Alaska Aces (13-7-0, 26 points), 4-1 before 2,892 fans at CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday.

The Aces had their shutout streak of seven periods of regulation hockey end on Rob Linsmayer's early goal, while Gaelan Patterson led the Steelheads with a goal and an assist. Jordan Kremyr broke Idaho's shutout bid with a late goal, 1:53 remaining in regulation.

Linsmayer finished Tommy Grant's centering bid from the left circle with a goal off the rush at 4:07 for a 1-0 lead, followed up by Patterson's power play goal just seven seconds after Dustin Molle was whistled for tripping. The Steelheads won the offensive zone draw at the right circle and Damon Kipp wired a shot into traffic that deflected off Patterson at 6:03.

The Aces threatened to get back in the game on an open net chance for Peter Sivak, but Idaho's defense furiously scrambled to cover the net with Robinson out of position and knocked the puck away. The Aces then fell behind 3-0 on David deKastrozza's shorthanded goal with 9:15 left on a snap shot from the top of the right circle.

Etienne Boutet extended Idaho's advantage to 4-0 after Idaho stole the puck in the offensive zone and Anthony Nigro fed Boutet at the open point. Boutet fired a shot through traffic that deflected over Roy's left shoulder with 1:42 left in the period.

The Aces battled to chip away at the Idaho and Roy settled in with six saves in the second period, but couldn't get any closer after Sivak was turned away again on another scramble at the net which resulted in Sivak's second empty net bid turned away by Boutet's skate.

Kremyr broke Robinson's shutout bid with 1:53 left in regulation to cut the deficit to 4-1. With Peter Sivak moving to a line during the game with Ross Ring-Jarvi and Kremyr, the rookie Ring-Jarvi dodged a devastating check attempt by Dalton Reum in the left corner and fed the puck to the net. Sivak relayed to an open Kremyr, who got his sixth goal of the season past Robinson's glove.

Goaltender Olivier Roy took the loss for the Aces with 26 stops.
