Greenville, SC: Today the Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, announced the team has signed forward Garrett Vermeersch.
Vermeersch began the year in the Southern Professional Hockey League with the Peoria Rivermen. In 16 games played with the Rivermen, he scored a team high nine goals, with seven assists and 26 penalty minutes. The Macomb, Michigan native played at Northeastern University from 2009-2013. In his freshman year he led the team in assists with 18 and in his junior year, he was tied for the team lead in goals with ten. Vermeersch turns 24 years old on December 20th.
Get in the holiday spirit and join the Greenville Road Warriors for the 4th annual Teddy Bear Toss Game this Friday at 7:00 p.m. presented by WSSL and Seven on Your Side. Bring a stuffed animal to the game to throw on the ice after the Road Warriors score their first goal. The Road Warriors are looking to beat last season's donation of over 2000 stuffed animals and encourage fans of all ages to come out to the game for tons of fun and to help a great cause! All stuffed animals collected will be donated to Toys For Tots. Forward Marc-Oliver Vallerand and defensemen Sam Noreau and Charlie Dodero will deliver the toys to Sitton Buick on Laurens Road on Saturday, December 14th and join members of the U.S. Marines in donating them to children in need.
