The Jackals are facing the Nailers tonight for the sixth of fifteen meetings this season and the fourth of seven at WesBanco Arena. Elmira has come up just shy of victory in each of its three appearances at WesBanco Arena this season. Three one-goal losses have kept the Jackals out of the win column when they have visited the Nailers (3-2 on Oct. 18, 1-0 on Nov. 14, and 5-4 on Nov. 16), but they will try to buck that trend tonight . The low scoring is not for a lack of shots. The Jackals have outshot Wheeling 187-130 through the five meetings this season. Elmira's 37.4 shots-per-game has dominated Wheeling's 26 shots-per-game. The Jackals have lost four in a row at WesBanco dating back to a 6-2 defeat on March 27, 2013, and their last win in Wheeling was a 2-1 shootout victory on March 6, 2013.
Jackals captain Jean Bourbeau has nine points (1G, 8A) in his last nine games after enduring a 10-game point drought that lasted from October 25 to November 16. Bourbeau has three multi-point efforts over this nine-game span and is just two back of Jordan Pietrus for the team lead in assists. His three assist game on Dec. 8 was the first three-point game Bourbeau produced in his six-year pro career.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return to home ice on Thursday, December 26 to take on the Reading Royals. You don't want to miss the world famous ZOOperstars! who will be performing live during the intermission!
