January 16, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - In a one-game series against the Colorado Eagles this afternoon, the Las Vegas Wranglers won 5-1 after getting an early lead on two power play goals.
Colorado took the first lead on a power play goal from defenseman Jason Beatty. The Eagles only briefly held their 1-0 score, though, as Wranglers defenseman Jeff May secured his own power play goal to tie up the game two minutes later. With four minutes left in the first, Wranglers center Chris Francis notched a power play goal to give Las Vegas a 2-1 lead and a perfect first period power play record (2-2).
A scoreless second period left Las Vegas up in shots, tallying 23 to Colorado's 18 through 40 minutes of play. Just three minutes into the third frame, May picked up his second goal of the night for a 3-1 Wranglers lead, and goals from center Adam Miller and forward Eric Lampe brought the final score to 5-1 in favor of Las Vegas. May, Lampe and Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon each received a Three Star of the game, with Fallon collecting his third win in a row for the team.
The Wranglers finish the month of January with two three-game road series. They'll take on the Stockton Thunder this weekend and play the Eagles from Jan. 25 - 28. The team returns home on Feb. 2 to face the Alaska Aces, and the three-game series opens with "Heroes Night," honoring police, firefighters and military personnel and featuring an appearance by Spiderman. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
