Titans Making Strides at ECHL's Halfway Point
January 16, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Titans News Release
TRENTON, N.J. - Having reached the halfway point in their return season, the Trenton Titans have made definite strides both on and off the ice.
On the ice, after starting 2-7-0-4, the Titans stand at 13-17-3-3-32. After that opening stretch, head coach Vince Williams' team is 11-10-3-3-28 and is playing highly competitive hockey.
Off the ice, area fans, buoyed by the successful "When You Assist You Score'' program and other innovative promotions, are rediscovering what ECHL hockey is all about. Over the last four home games, the Titans have drawn an average of 4,010 fans to the Sun National Bank Center.
The Titans are averaging 2,800 fans per game, a 17 percent increase over the 2,390 - or 410 fans per game - compared to what ECHL hockey drew in Trenton during the 2010-11 season.
Other first-half highlights include:
. An Opening Night crowd of 5,211, the largest such crowd in five seasons in Trenton.
. A half-dozen crowds over the 4,000 mark or close to it.
. The play of F Rob Bordson, the Titans' co-leader in scoring with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists), who has the longest goal-scoring streak in the ECHL this season, lighting the lamp in six successive games between Nov. 20 and Dec. 3.
. The play of F Ryan Hayes, who, since his return to Trenton, also has 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) to help fuel the Titans offense.
Given those developments, the Titans enter the second half of the ECHL season, with games this weekend at Elmira (7:35 p.m. Friday) and at home vs. Kalamazoo Saturday (7 p.m.) and Toledo Sunday (4 p.m.)
Tickets for all Titans games are on sale by calling the Titans offices at 609-341-1100. Single-game tickets are also available at the Sun National Bank Center box office and on-line at www.comcasttix.com.
